About Dr. Rene Sotelo

Rene Sotelo, MD, is an experienced and internationally recognized laparoscopic and robotic surgeon. He is a pioneer in robotic surgery, specifically in robotic surgery for benign prostate enlargement and complex urinary fistulae in both females and males. Dr. Sotelo helped develop the novel concept of single-port "belly button" surgery and natural orifice surgery. Hailing from Latin America, he has won over 23 awards from scientific and government organizations worldwide. Dr. Sotelo has had the honor of being invited as a visiting professor to 35 universities in 19 countries internationally, where he demonstrated advanced robotic and laparoscopic techniques at live surgical symposiums. Additionally, he has published more than 50 peer reviewed scientific papers, 28 chapters in major urology books and three textbooks.
